AFTER a crazy few months Self-Wellbeing is developing amazingly quickly. So, I thought I would take this opportunity to share a little of who I am.
THE love for my life and the time and energy I now have, are a direct result of a big struggle, everyone has those so won't bore you with what, but it took a great deal to make me realise that I need to change my work life balance.
IN some scenes I still don't have it quite right, but lets just say it is a work in progress. I have 3 stunning children who are all still fairly young and I really felt that as a role model I just wasn't passing on the right messages. I was tired and grumpy and officially struggling. Then, with a trip to the GP for yet another illness, I was also told I was clinically obese.
I literally hit rock bottom, my world that thought I was able to manage, fell apart, and it was hard. How had I become this person? A person who was wearing over size 24 clothes, weighing 16 stones 6 pounds and hiding in things which I now know, made me look so much bigger. I was unhappy, and I couldn't keep being this person. My mood changed, I was horrible to the people around me, and even more horrible to myself. I even found myself blaming how I felt on others - which wasn't OK.
SO, what next, how did I learn to change?
OVER the years I tried every single diet going. They all worked as long as I was 100% focused. If, for any reason, I lost my focus, that was it. All the weight and some more besides, went back on. I literally, spent months living on cabbage soup....which frankly should be illegal!!
THEN after a very complicated period I released that the only way to change completely, was to alter how I think.
A cliche? Maybe. A fact? Definitely. The truth? Completely.
I made a decision to get stronger mentally. If I made a choice, I thought it through. I wrote it down in my planner and then completely committed to it. Slowly, every day, I started to reshape my life and my weight. Small decisions, led to big decisions which led to even bigger decisions.
THIS year I achieved what I had completely set out to achieve, and the relief was powerful. I now know that anything, literally anything, can be achieved, you just have to want it.
I had so many people say "How did you do it?" and "Did you have surgery?" that I realised that many other people also felt like I had. They too had lost themselves along the way. Everyone could manage bits, and a few could change more, but nothing was permanent, and so I set about creating a program that all women could do, in order to allow themselves time to achieve whatever their goal was. This isn't my full time work, that continues. I work as a Nurse in a large teaching hospital, but I wanted to help others find the drive and motivation I had found. A so, Self-Wellbeing.com was created.
MY modules were developed from all the parts of the changes I made, and when they add up together, help to form the same framework I used to grow into the person I am now. They are not a golden ticket to a skinny body, and now I would never advise anyone to try the fad diets which are everywhere at this time of year. Trust me, I have done them all.
NOW I know that I am healthy, have a great BMI and my body is rewarding me. But my biggest achievement is in being a better role model for my family and friends. Finding and knowing that what I am doing can help others is a powerful tool to motivate me further This was my road to walk, and every day I get up and walk further along it. I can make it go wherever I need and I completely believe in that now - and so can you!
YOU are worth the time and definitely worth the effort.Your family and your children deserve it, but most importantly YOU deserve it too. It is OK to want to change, and it is OK to need that help.
